Scion xA and xB to be Replaced in Spring 2007

The two models that started it all for Toyota's hip Scion brand in 2004 will be no more come springtime. Keeping to its word when it launched, Scion doesn’t want to redesign existing models, as traditional automakers do. Instead, expect two new models that could look drastically different from either the xA or xB. We’d guess a production version of last year’s t2B concept is a lock, while we can’t guess on what the xA replacement will be. It’s a safe bet that one or both of the new vehicles will debut at the Los Angeles auto show in late November. Both new cars will be 2008 models.

This leaves shoppers about six months to pick up a new xA or xB. The boxy xB has been selling almost twice as well as the xA and has a rabid following that crosses age ranges because of its wild styling and affordable price.

Anyone have a sneek peek of things to come as far as the xB and xA? IMO the T2B is luring us away from what might actually be released. Sure wish they would have brought the xB "Open Deck" over for the last year run... Can you imagine a Scion Truck?

I do not like the looks of this model!!! We have an XB and absolutely love it!!! In fact, I am currently trying to get my son to refinance my Chevy Aveo so that I can buy an XA. I love the Scion. I really like the XA - it appears to the a car version of the XB.

I am totally disapointed that you are planning to discontinue both of these models. These are both of our favorites.

I know that they were created for the younger folk - but were are of retiring age. My husband retired in 2000 and I am planning to retire in 2007.

Please - reconsider your decision.

If this is the new xB, I won't be buying it. I've seen other proposed versions of the xB that are MUCH better. This thing is just ug-ly!

I was one of the lucy few to see the new xB and xD (replacement for the xA) in Miami last month.

Although Scion wouldn't let us bring cameras (or cell phones!) and got everyone very drunk before they unveiled the cars I can tell you:

xD is much sportier than the xA is. Same basic shape, but evolved and smoother. I didn't take a very long look since I was really hyped up about the xB.

xB is hot! Much nicer looking than the concept above. Same basic shape, but much more refined, with projector HID headlamps vertically stacked (think Cadillac but hotter!) a longer wheelbase, tires set further out at the corners (if that is possible. The interior looked much more upscale, with the Speedo/Tach still center but in a rectangle housing more intrigrated into the center dash. The shifter is now located futher up on the consule, think Honda Element. They wouldn't tell us what was under the hood, but the rumor is that they are going to drop the 2.4L from the TC into it. I hope so. I love my box, but it is slllooowwwww.

Dont judge a book by it's cover. The 1st Gen Xb was fabulous in styling but lacked a little power. I was convinced in 03 that I would purchase one but the engine just made me think tercel. But we just got the 08 and it speaks for itself. God Bless Toyota. Im looking forward to an engine swap to a 1st Gen.
