Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Debuts at Paris Motor Show

S631_1

A few weeks back, Mercedes-Benz announced a high-performance variant of its still-unreleased, all-new CL coupe, the CL63 AMG. At the Paris Motor Show, the company unveiled the S63 AMG, which has specs almost identical to the coupe. The main highlight is the 525-hp, 6.3-liter V-8. That’s a huge improvement over the base S550’s 382-hp V-8 and narrowly edges the more expensive S600’s 510-hp V-12. Don’t worry, an even more powerful AMG will be added down the line to boost the V-12’s numbers. The S63 should arrive in the U.S. in 2007.

Confidential to Mercedes and BMW: GM invented that style of high sweeping dash with digital touchscreen mounted over the a/c controls back in the late 80's / early 90's with the Buick Reatta/Cadillac Allante/Olds Toronado Trofeo.

I don't care for GM cars and becoming less fond of the MB and BMW's as thier body styling goes more rap/hip-hop video and less high end/high class minimalist. And now they are just plain copying GM's fifteen year old gimmicks. Sad.

I love these cars but you've go to be in bed with your dealer & be willing to part with the car 6 days a year plus the inconvenience...I guess I need a driver/detailer & babysitter for car.

Umm. I actually drove one of these yesterday. Comfortable. Gorgeous. But noone needs that much power. The thing is a BEAST. Sophisticated. But VERY beastly. Sick car. Wish I had the spare change for one
