Lincoln MKX Priced Under $35,000
Wednesday we got word on the Ford Edge crossover SUV’s prices. Today, its upscale twin drops the veil around its MSRP. The front-wheel-drive Lincoln MKX will start at $34,120, while the all-wheel-drive model will start at $35,770. Destination and delivery is an additional $675.
The Lincoln model is roughly $10,000 more than the Edge and lands squarely in a luxury segment with the Lexus RX 350 ($37,400), Acura RDX ($32,995), Infiniti FX35 ($37,800) and BMW X3 ($38,000). That’s some tough competition for Lincoln, and we’re not sure the few thousand dollars price difference compared to most of these models will sway luxury SUV shoppers when the MKX goes on sale in November.
The MKX comes standard with a 265 hp V-6 engine, 18-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic temperature control, stability control, rollover mitigation, front and rear side curtain airbags and a tire pressure monitoring system. For available option packages, click below.

You can bet the FoMoCo marketing and finance people are already developing the necessary rebate programs to support this over-priced medicore vehicle. An Acura MDX is 10x the vehicle and cheaper to boot!
The MDX is not cheaper. The new one will start at just under $40,000. This starts under $35K. They do not compete. They're a different size, layout etc.
I agree that the pricing is lower than Acura. I've been looking at this segment, and if they can get the quality right on the Lincoln, it's the lowest price. When I built one online recently, it had everything I wanted, and was 10% cheaper than the Nissan, Toyota, Acura and Lexus models
As much as I despise Ford Motor Co. it sure is nice to see them starting to actually put their good designs into production. Lincoln's new vehicles are looking pretty nice. Wasn't having their logo behind the front wheel supposed to be their new signature design element though? I thought that was a nice touch.
I don't see why this should cost $10K more than an Edge since there doesn't seem to be many extras or improvements other than a nicer interior.
Hopefully, you're also paying for a nicer dealer experience. I know that's true here in Phoenix. The Lincoln dealership I go to is much better than the Ford dealer.
I don't see how Jerry is wrong in his price comparison. The article clearly states that the MKX will start at $34,120 and the Acura RDX at $32,995. Perhaps this is why I rely more on Edmunds.com than any other car site when it comes time to making a purchase.
Paul, Jerry mentioned the MDX, not RDX, which is more expensive. This is why I prefer—you know—actual names (or some kind of logical naming convention).
Rick, You've got a good point on Lincoln dealerships being better. In general more expensive the cars come with better buying experiences because the customers are more savvy and have better credit. Buying a car at a Ford dealership feels like getting shived in the back by a guy named Phil. That's why I don't like the push for consolidated dealerships.
Paul,
The names are confusing but we got the prices right. I originally put the RDX in the post because it's a five seater like the Lincoln MKX.
Another poster above - Jerry - mentioned the Acura MDX as a competitor. I don't see it as one because it has 3 rows of seats and is more expensive starting at $40,000. However, I've now heard many people comparing the MKX to the MDX. That doesn't make sense to me, perhaps it is because of the similar names.
BTW I'm sure our competitors get basic information like prices from the same places we do. Hopefully it is a useful, timely and interactive blog like this one that keeps readers and buyers coming back.
I'm excited about the MKX, and can't wait to test drive one. I put off buying my next vehicle in anticipation of the MKX, but when I visited two different Lincoln deals neither had a date for when they expected the first MKX to arrive. There are too many good deals on 06's to wait much longer...what's the hold up?
Alton,
There's no holdup. The MKX was originally planned for a November sale date. Now, the question you may really be asking is why are they trying to get so much attention for these two vehicles (Edge and MKX) two full months before their release? My guess is that has to do with Ford's business issues right now and wall street more than generating consumer buzz.
There are also a ton of competitors in this market for you to shop. But if you can't wait until November than I think the MKX is not going to make your list.
Thanks Dave T.... I mainly was looking for a rough delivery date which no one could give me a direct answer; I do hope Ford offers a great rebate or zero financing when the MKX finally arrives.
I am also waiting on the MKx as I am deciding on either the MKz or MKx and want to see it before going forward. Right now the dealerships are focused on 06 closeouts it seems.
I wonder why Ford did not use a names like Lincoln LKX, Ford FKX for the Ford Edge and if they come out with a Mercury version they could have used MKX?
How much is it to lease a Lincoln MKX
The Edge and MKX release dates were pushed back because of issues with the vehicles. I believe the MKX was having a slight issue with the way the Vista Roof opened and closed. The Edge was probbaly the same problem. There are currently no rebates available for the MKX and 0% financing is also not available.
Ford Should think about bringing back a 1969 cougar based on the Mustang platform. Like the 1969 eliminator with a hardtop & convertible or a Lincoln version.
