Ford Iosis X Concept Updates the SUV for Europe
Fords you'll find in Europe aren’t the same as those in the U.S. Designs over there aim at different customers, and many European Fords are more upscale than those here — and they cost more, too. The same could be said for the concepts Ford is showing off in Paris, like this stunning iosis X. Ford’s European design team has been heading in the direction of this crossover for the past few years, and the first iosis concept — a sedan — has already had its design utilized in new production offerings over there.
European shoppers will probably see a production version of the iosis X in the near future, as Ford tries to explain the need for crossovers in a wagon — and hatchback — ruled market. That makes us a little sad here in the Cars.com office. Sure, there’s nothing wrong with the new Ford Edge, but this concept is stunning.

From what I've read and seen of Ford's European designs, it seems they really have it together. I understand that Europeans have different tastes, safety standards, etc., but why can't Ford translate these successes(?) to North America?
wade,
its mostly due to price. Europeans are used to spending more on cars than we are. So Ford can spend more money on the materials knowing the MSRP over there will be higher. If you went to your local Ford dealer and they had a Euro Focus priced at $20K+ you'd probably walk right out the door.
I'm not particulary a Ford fan to begin with, but with more platform and technolgy sharing they could build world cars that compete on a world scale. Mostly I'm referring to design, however. I work with many local dealers of all makes and a common feeling is that Ford's cars are not very stylish. What about the trickle down effect. Ford could send some Euro hand-me-downs this way. Also, I don't buy the Europeans are used to spending more line. Hondas and Toyotas cost more than many comparable vehicles and people buy them, partly, for the materials and quality. People would spend more for a Ford if they were better. Domestic makers seem content to compete by offering the best price point in a catergory, regardless of quality.
holy toledo wade spelt TECHNOLOGY wrong! shame! shame!
And the annonymous jackass spelled something correct, but it wasn't "spelt".
I love this design, but lose the chrome rims! They distract far too much from the form of the body.
Absolutely wonderful.
how much does it cost ?? i really want to know a price!!!
It's a concept. not a real production vehicle. So it's not for sale, sorry.
for me the interesting question is if ford
brings the sucessful hybrid tech from the US escape line into the new europe suv (since gas is quite a bit more spendy in europe)or goes along with the thinking of VW and Audi and there blue line of deisel. I love the design and would love to pay less at the pump to drive it myself.
i want to know if the Mondeo type Iosis realy exist and what price could that have
