First Glimpse of the 2007 Hyundai Tiburon
We don’t know what to make of it, but for some reason Hyundai has posted this photo of the restyled 2007 Hyundai Tiburon on its public news site. There’s no press release to accompany it and no news on when more photos are coming, but here it is.
The 2007 Tiburon sees the addition of a number of features, like a tire pressure monitoring system, standard across the lineup, and stability control available on the top (SE) trim level. The engine and transmission are relatively unchanged. There's been no price or sale date announced. We’ll keep you posted when we learn more. Check out the 2006 version versus the new 2007 below.

Didn't anyone tell Hyundai that big grills were in this year?

It looks terrible. Tiburon was such a good looking car when it came out in 2002 as a early 2003.

It's okay, kind of reminds me of a Celica.

Brad, with all due respect, are you kidding me? The '02 Tiburon was a bulbous, hidious mess! This Tiburon was a complete turn-around and the "new" '07 is just slightly improving an already great design.

The new design does not do the Tiburon justice. Going back to the 2003 grill was a mistake. The 2005 lower grill was the best desicion they made. The headlights are disgusting. They got it right with the 2005. I own a 2003, and wish I would have waited until the 2005 model came out, but I prefer my 2003 to this ugly rendition of a Tiburon.

Derrek, if you knew anything at all about the tiburon you would know there was no 2002 model year for it. The current body came out in February 2002 as an early 2003. The first generation Tiburon was ugly and drove bad.

I have seen this model inside and out, the picture posted does not really do it justice. The rear design is different than the current model and I feel looks better, the headlamps are also a nice design change. I do somewhat agree with everyone about the front bumper. It could look a little more aggressive. The removal of the side vents kinda upsets me.
No matter what anyone thinks you have to give credit to Hyundai for keeping things fresh. How long did it take mitsubishi to change the design of the Eclipse? It felt like forever.

Maybe in person it is nicer looking, but to me it looks like they took 4 or 5 different models put them in a hat shook it up rolled it out on a table and this is what they came up with .... The more I think of it, I sure am glad I own an '05 !!!!!!
Posted by: PHIL | Sep 19, 2006 3:06:46 PM
Damn, that's ugly! im so happy i bought the '05 tibby, though i didnt for the 2.7 l - v6.. that new facelift is a huge mistake, but then again, that's just my opinion.

well the new 3.3 242 horsepower engin is sure to give it a new face lift for sure!! of coarse other than the fact of the new body style its soo frickin tiiiiiiiiighhht im gonna be gettin one asap

Under bumber grill really sux,why repeat old design?Loss of gills takes away from the vehicles personality. 2.7l or 3.3l motor, does anyone know which? Factory supercharger option would give the Tiburon a set of Bull Terrier balls.I own a 06 model, build quality is excellent, but I, and many other owners want more power and torque, how about a twin turbo/intercooled diesel.
Posted by: Bruce | Oct 3, 2006 6:16:46 AM
Ehh... The only thing I like is the Aston Martin-ish headlamps, otherwise I don't like the stupid face, and why did get get rid of the gills!? The gills set the car apart, gave it a unique one-of-a-kind look. Sure its not the only car with gills, but its got its own style.
I own an 2006 SE and love it... only thing I wish it had was tighter suspension, more power (factory supercharger would be great), rear-wheel drive, and HID headlamps. The looks are damn near perfect on the 2006 model if you ask me. This new one is just... ugh...
Oh and those wheels look like VW GTI wheels... Not bad, but not great either.
Posted by: Mike | Oct 22, 2006 2:04:32 AM
It needs the 3.3 V6 supercharged plus all wheel drive then it woulds be bad ass

well i own a 97 tiburon and its still just as nice and fast as the day i got it off the show room floor i would'nt trade it for anything the rest of the tiburon models do not appeal to me but thats just me well guys enjoy your tiburons i know i will mine

I was like what did they do to the car at first?? But the more I look at it the more it grows on me. I like the look of the hood. Pretty sweet. Now the sides of the car bother me. I like the way of the 2003 version. Which is what I own. But the new design is like they are trying to make the car appeal to both young and middle age buyers. They gave it a Bmw Mercedez rendition. Made it sporty with a PLUS!!!

I've had a 2003 Tiburon GT (5 speed, V6), for 3 years now, and I love it. Plenty of power and amenities, and it's fun to drive. I don't find the new grill to be as attractive as the "old" one. I never thought I'd own a Korean car, as I've driven Volvos for the last 25 years, but it's a great car. I call it my "Korean Porche". LOL.

I have to agree that returning to the 03 grill was a horrible idea. But I have seen it in person and it is a sweet car. There will be the same two options (no 3.3L (stupid if you ask me) and still no supercharger or turbo. When, when, when? They also took away the six speed on the GT you have to get the special edition to get the six speed.

the design isnt too bad. it takes away from some of the things about the 03-06 models that it stand out above the competition...
ultimately though...no one should waste their time gettin the 07 model, instead, wait around for the 08 to be fully designed and released at the end of the year. thats gonna be a sweet update for the shark.

I heard a rumor that the next Tiburon redesign will be rear wheel drive with a V8 under the hood to compete with cars like the 350Z and the upcoming Supra. Then again im probably wrong.
Posted by: | Feb 27, 2007 3:13:19 PM
MUCH BETTER!!!!
Posted by: matt | Mar 7, 2007 8:06:34 PM
ya...the new 08 has lots of promising changes with it, RWD, V8, hard-top convertible, and even a possible 6 speed auto with a manual gate (take that 6 speed manualers, autos dont miss gears)...but who knows whatll happen...
Posted by: Harry | Mar 8, 2007 1:51:50 PM
Okay, for starters, the whole RWD, and V8 rumors are probably never going to happen for the Tiburon. The Tiburon is not made to compete with cars like the 350z. That's why the car is as low priced as it is. You start throwing in all the crap you guys want in the car and you easily blow over the price of a 350z or Supra. Also, why would Hyundai do a redesign on the car, and then completely change it 6 months later for an '08 year model. And the '07 will have the same engines as previous models. Sorry guys, no 3.3 L.

They made this car ugly (And i mean really ugly) so the next gen rear wheel drive looks awesome next to this hideous turd.

Well I just bought my first tib and I for one am more than satisfied with the body style and very happy with the handling of it too! I now see why you tiburon owners were so impressed. I have the gt limited and would like to kick it up a little, I tried the 35+ hp chip and was very impressed with the difference but my check engine light came on and in the directions they sent told me this might happen. But I didn't want to leave it there, Do you guys have any other suggestions that wouldn't give me a check engine light to boost my 2.7? what I have done already was a K&N air filter, Turbo air defuser and I am running 5/30 castrol full synthetic. Is it possible to install a turbo? or Should I go with a supercharger... Thanks, Les.

Oh Yea, Mine is the 2007 and I think its great!!! Thanks, Les.
Posted by: Les | Sep 23, 2007 9:04:51 PM
I also have a 2007, GT Limited and love it! I never thought I'd like a car so much to buy it brand new, but after comparing a Mustang (too many around), Audi A4, and the Tiburon, I had to have this car and have never regretted it. I do agree that they need to up the horsepower and at least give the option of rear-wheel drive. I first saw a Tiburon in 1999 when I was stationed in Taegu, South Korea. They have come a LONG way since then.

i stumbled on this site on accident i own a 2006 se and love it. definetly could use more power why throw in a v6 and make it a 2.7 there is room under the hood for something bigger. also supercharged would be awesome im still looking for the right one to throw in now.
