$400 Million and Mellencamp to Usher in New GM Trucks

There is no more-important vehicle launch for GM this year than that of its all-new line of full-size pickups. A few weeks before the new Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups roll into dealerships in October, GM will begin a $400 million advertising blitz during the World Series and NFL games.

There's even word that John Mellencamp will provide the musical backdrop for the ads. GM dropped the popular Bob Seger-backed “Like A Rock” truck campaign in 2004. Whatever song it decides on, expect to hear it ad nauseam all fall long, especially if you’re a sports fan.

Maybe they will go for "Like a Crock"? Hold your head high GM,even the faithful dont want your stuff anymore. And by the way, ever get your rear brake problems solved? The 99-2004s had horrible disc brakes that rusted and wore prematurely, and then GM in a desperate move reverts back to old fashioned drum brakes for 2005-2006,and that hasnt solved many wear issues. Now this new truck....probably has NO rear brakes? Maybe they should have asked Ford how they got 2004-up F150 brakes to last so long.....

so you are standing up for ford...the world's worst when it comes to recalls? flipped explorer anyone? ford has the worst brake dust, look at any ford and the rims are black.. and the brakes give a squishy unreassuring feeling...and on top of that, ford digging the biggest hole in the ground when it comes to finances

Frankly,no new vehicle will last 20-30 years like the older ones, they all have their problems and cost way too much for upkeep.I would stick with a 1970s Ford truck and to heck with all these ABS/EFI/OHC/High tech pickpockets.

GM has some really good trucks....the ENGINES can't be beat.
In 2004 I purchased a new Ford F-150 with 4 doors and the small 4.6 V8 and it was the worst mistake I ever made.....the truck was so heavy the small engine had no power and had trouble pulling itself much less a trailer!! I had it for 5 months and traded it in on a new 2004 GMC sierra with the 4.8 and it has been by BEST truck ever...plenty of power, great ride, looks great...and have had ZERO problems with it! Yeah I had to pay a little more for my GMC than i would for a Dodge or Ford but the old saying is true....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

I drove the new 2007 Chevrolet Silverado last week. Very nice indeed. The ride was by far the best I ever had in a full size pickup. The interior quality was very nice, and it really is a step forward in full size pickups. One big issue for me though, why no rear disk brakes? Seems in making a whole new vehicle from the ground up, disk brakes would be standard. Seems the beancounters got a hold of the truck, and ditched the rear disk brakes. I love this truck, but man no rear disk brakes really bothers me.
