2007 Honda CR-V Revealed
Honda’s stepping it up a notch with the all-new 2007 CR-V compact SUV. The numbers may read like this vehicle is underpowered, with only 166 horses under the hood, but the smooth, standard five-speed automatic delivers steady performance. Fuel economy is up slightly to 22/30 mpg cty/highway for the 2WD models and 22/28 mpg for AWD. There are three trim levels: The base LX comes with all the basics; the EX gets a moonroof, 17-inch wheels, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, and an upgraded sound system; and the EX-L gets all that as well as leather seats, heated front seats, satellite radio and an optional navigation system.
Inside, the CR-V is a perfect example of practicality and high-quality fit and finish. Outside, the design could polarize, but at least it’s a bold move — not something you usually see from Honda.
Of course, there are numerous safety features, including side curtain airbags, driver and front-passenger side airbags, active front head restraints, stability control, antilock brakes and a tire pressure monitoring system, all standard.
Prices are expected to be in the $22,000 - $26,000 range. The CR-V goes on sale Sept. 28, so we should have exact pricing for you soon.

the cargo space is more bigger the the honda crv 2005?
Mike,
Sightly bigger inside even though the overall length of the CRV is the exact same (when you compensate for the missing spare tire on the tailgate).
2007: 35.7 cubic feet with seats up, 72.9 with them fully folded
2006: 33.5 cubic feet with seats up, 72.0 with them fully folded
That double grill makes it look UGLY!!!
I will be curious to see things like fuel economy numbers, where people are paying a lot of attention to that stuff now.
I am very glad to see they did not take take the gage cluster from the new Civic. Dials work great, are easy to read and in this case look nice and clean.
The stying reminds me a lot of a small Pacifica which I always thought of as just an average looking SUV. I think the RAV4's restyle was a nice upgrade to a vehicle that needs some style. I am still not sure what to think of this but excited is not one of the words. Bottom line is that is has the non-italic H on the front and people will buy it for that reason alone over some of the other choices.
I agree on the grill. Would have helped if it was not half one style, half another style. They couldn't decide on what style grill looked better so they just did both. ;-)
I don't get the grille either. Sorry about the mpg. it is added above. Late night of blogging!
Am very curious to know the length in inches of the cargo space when seats are folded up all the way. From the back edge of the completely folded up seat to the rear door (as in the view from the last picture you show). Also inches from side to side.
Bummer no manual transmission.
How's over-shoulder visibility in the new CR-V? It looks like the large D-pillar might limit blind spot views somewhat.
MH
I didn't notice any blindspot issue in the rear. Definitely not like the CX7. I'm guessing that's because the CRV is shorter.
I can't get over how ugly the back windows are. They don't match in any way, shape or form the lines of the body and roof line. What were they thinking? I am also not pleased that the fuel efficiency wasn't increased very much and wonder if they'll release a hybrid of this. I certainly hope that Honda gets a lot of negative press and feedback about the design because it just lacks cohesiveness and style. Very disappointed with Honda.
Too expensive for the power ratings. 26k for a loaded model is too much for a CR-V. You can buy more car elsewhere.
Personally I think the new CR-V looks brilliant. I like the more chunky exterior and am glad to see they did not radically change the interior space which is perhaps the best selling point of the current model. Well done Honda!
That double grill makes it look ugly. What is going on at HONDA?
Absolutely hideous - the whole thing. Hideous.
I have owned 6 CRV's ... and the 2007 will DEFINITELY be the 7th! They are nothing short of spectacular vehicles and the new one is absolutely beautiful! GREAT JOB, HONDA!
is there the picnic table still?
no picnic table. you get a "Shelf" in the cargo area though.
The front side of this new CRV reminds me of a Lexus RX400h with an ugly front bumper. The second grill is also too big. The back side reminds me of a mini Mercedes R Class and the tailgate reminds me of an Acura MDX/RDX (this is understandable). All great vehicles, just when don’t take their design elements and lump it together and call it a new vehicle. Overall, the design of the new CRV looks more mature, wouldn’t you agree? The interior also looks very nice, I just wonder how long it will take before that “Shelf” start to rattle; solid loose pieces like that usually do after a while.
hard to tell from the pictures but does the new 07 still have a tape cassette player??? or an option for a tape cassette player...
How do these compare with the pilot? I know the pilot is bigger, but is worth the extra money over the new CRV?
hi, is the parking brake foot or hand operated?, liked the 06 shape better but i think the new one will grow on me.
will the used price on the 06 diesel come down now the new model is here?
Is the new CRV for 2007 wider? It's the same length when you factor in the outside wheel, but is it wider?
Looks kinda like the sporty version of the Ford Focus! Yuck!
I like the 2007's lift back vrs the earlier, it will keep rain out while loading/unloading.
Would like to know the min ground clearance.
Can the rear passenger seat assy be removed? If so, then is the cargo floor all on the same plane? (Would like to sleep in it at a trail head, and am 6'2")
Does the basic LX model come with the more avail 16" wheels & tires?
Great looking vehicle. Can't wait to get my hands on it. But where has the spare wheel gone?
it has a footbrake.
New Width is 71.6 inches
2006 width was 70.2 inches
Our full review should be up later today.
could somebody tell me if the rear windows go all the way down flush into the door? it seams like all suvs today are made with rear windows that don't go down all the way...............
Can you open the mirror on the rear door as in 2006 model ?
Terrible, i just bought my CRV. I was told there wont be any new model coming out.i saw similar look at the New york show but was told it's meant for USA. This new model is a real beauty
Does anyone know of it's towing capabiliites?
I would like to purchase 2007 crv ex for export european standard, what is the avalability
nice looking vehicle except of the knobby (for her plesure)bumper . I mean why on earth would they take a nice smooth lined and well rounded form and throw that in
I tried the 2007 RAV 4. The seats were very comfortable and more like upright chair seats. Are the seats in the 2007 CRV any higher, more adjustable or less sports car like than in the 2006 CRV ?
Also the hand brake in the 2006 pushed against the drivers hip. Is that less likely to be problem in the slightly wider car?
Two questions about the 2007 CR-V:
1. Do the windshield wipers have more than 3 speeds?
2. Is the gas tank any bigger than the previous model's?
Otherwise, she looks sweet.
double grill in the front is terrible. this can't be designed by honda. looks like a third party work ...
I own two Cr-Vs: a 2003 and a 2004. I think that the design from 2002-2006 is perfect. The controls are easy to reach, the radio is simple to use, it is comfortable, with plenty of head and leg room. The cargo area is fantastic. I love the picnic tables. My wife sells products at craft fairs and the picnic tables work great for her displays.
I am so thoroughly disappointed with Honda's redesign for 2007. They did away with fantastic features. I dislike the one opening hatch. It was so convenient to have two ways to enter the back. The picnic table is gone and the storage well is useless since it now houses the tire.
I definitely got my money's worth with the 2003 and 2004 models. I will hold on to them for a good long time. I hope Honda rethinks this design for future models.
When will this be available in manila? How much? Will Honda make any diesel variants?
How many ways can I say UGLY! What a turn off and what a disappointment. Guess I'm gonna have to buy a Ford Escape.
Looks like the BMW X3--total design copy with minor changes. The X3 is ungainly looking at best, the CRV at least smooths out the lines in a pleasant fashion.
You will hate the escape. A ford product is no comparison to a honda. Junk, simple as that. I like the new CRV but I am glad I have an 05.
Nobody is mentioning my biggest complaint with the 04 CR-V.
ROAD NOISE. What has Honda done to cut down on the road noise?
CR-V looks okay to me, not really that bad. However, you guys should check the Chevrolet Equinox/Pontiac Torrent. These SUVs look great, got standard V-6s plus excellent safety ratings. Their side-impact is 5 stars, and that is WITHOUT side airbags! The CR-V needs the air bags to get decent side crash tests.
I'm devastated that the new Honda CRV doesn't include a picnic table. All this time, I was waiting for Honda to roll out the CRV portable picnic chairs, and now they take away the table. Tailgaters unite -- this is a travesty!
Strongly dislike the 2 front grills.
Dislike the sloping side rear window design (and their resulting blind spots.)
But most of all, cannot buy one because there is no MANUAL transmission! What is Honda thinking?
Looked at the Chevy Equinox (good styling) but hate the Department of Homeland Security Monitoring System (ie, OnStar.)
Currently have a Subaru Forester, and I have sworn 137 times to never own another Subaru again...
Looks like I'll have fight the Toyota options black box & try to properly equip a Rav4...
I don't know how people are comparing this new CRV to the Lexus and Mercedes as if that was a bad thing. I like the look. When I see the old CRVs and Rav 4s with the tire on the back to me it now looks old and definitely a design that's going to be phased out by both Toyota as well. I test drove the CRV and it's not the most exciting car in the world to drive, I'll say that. It doesn't inspire with its power. But, overall, for the money, I'll take it.
It's a toss-up between the Rav4 or the CRV for my next vehicle. The deciding factor for me is the V6 power and I will buy the V6 Rav4 because if it. The CRV needs V6 power as an option.
I LOVE the new 2007 CR-V. Its so much more stylish than the rectangular boxes of the past. Okay, so the bumper is UGLY and the grill is wierd, but its a nice looking car. Why get a V-6 and spend more on gas if your not towing? Why put in a manual trans for the 3% of CR-V buyers. That's just picky. Also great - no gear shift to accidentally hit when you want to turn on the radio. It has a classy interior with the exception of the pully for getting the rear seats folded. And hello... its honda. No American car will ever maintain its equity the way Honda's do!!! Don't be swayed... I say go for a test drive like I did. You won't regret it!!
I love the way this car looks. It has way too many gadgets implemented in their ex-l model for someone to say no to this car. I preferably like the silver color one. I went over to the dealer to check out the car and it's amazing. The navigation model is very appealing to me for i'm not that street savy. The mp3 connection is another plus, the dashboard and the moonroof and many other gadgets i think you guys should go and check out for yourselves. I haven't had the chance to drive it yet but i will keep you guys posted. The grill is just something new, we are just not use to seeing a grill like that in this type of cars, but i'm sure the proper cooling for the engine requires it and it just doesn't bother me. I've taken a look at honda accords also the hybrid models, the Acura tsx and tl model, the Toyota prius, honda fit and other models. I'm doing an extensive search for the proper car for me and the Honda crv looks like it is now the first one on the list and followed by the Acura tsx.
A lot more questions than answers. Does anyone monitor this site to provide good data?
I have a 2004 CRV and the road noise drives me nuts on a long trip. I have to wear noise cancelling earphones to prevent damage to my hearing. I've about to install Dyno-mat or some such to try and get rid of it.
O/w, the car is great - I plan to put about 200k miles on it.
This is a very cool looking car. However, it's a litle pricey for what you get. If I was in the market for another SUV I'd most likely go for the RAV 4 or the Nissan Trail-x ( you can't get this one in the USA ). However all that being said, does the market need any more SUV's, of any size.
I don't like the new tailgate. You can't open the window any more for loading. You can't shut the new gate "handsfree" (with your hip) like you could the old one. It's a head bonker and you lose a lot of storage space with the spare tire in the back. If you get a flat, you have to unpack the whole car to get at the spare. The "shelf" is rated for 20 pounds, which is a total joke. The rear gate was much more practical than this new "improvement." Honda should offer the swinging gate as an option.
I just drove the 2007 CRV and I loved it, it seemed plenty powerful to me, it has more hp than my 6 cyl. Xterra,,,,I also prefer a van type tailgate, it's easier to load....the gas milage was also good,,,,I think it looks like a Lexus....
I have a Honda civic 172,000 miles. I love it except for the road noise. I need a new car with more ground clearance. If Honda came out and said it has vastly improved its road noise problem, I would consider a CR-V. But no one seems to know if and how they've improved in this category.
Any one please tell me the price EX model you bought?.
i love it ! i just got it im from mexico and im going to be the coolest guy driving around! ea obregon sonora!
Test drove one this past weekend. It has the smoothest auto I've ever driven. It's also very comfortable and very quiet compared with other Hondas I've been in. Just ordered a white one . . .
looks fantastic honda made!!! only the best question's answer'd
This SUV is really UGLY!!
I'm very disappointed with Honda, it's a step back in the design. VERY UGLY LOOK!!! IIUU
No manual transmission? I have owned nothing but Honda's my whole life, and currently have a 99 CRV. What a bummer that I will have to go elsewhere. Really disappointing Honda.

Am seriously considering buying this new CR-V. I think they are successful in toning down the truck like feel of SUV's. Handles well, but expect 4 cylinder acceleration. 7" road clearance. Good interior layout. Visibility in rear somewhat of a problem. If you can afford it go for the navigation package which includes a better sound system and a rear facing camera which shows an image on screen when car in reverse. I live in an area where angled parking is the rule. I'm so sick of pulling out of parking spot and holding my breath wondering if I'm backing into someone. I understand it's built on an Accord platform.
Edge of rear door fully opened towers 81" above ground. My garage ceiling clearance near rear end of car comes down to 79" at one point. Dealer says he can lower the maximum elevation with some minor modifications on door lift mechanism. Talked to Honda motors about this, but they were very evasive about wheather this could or should be done. Anyone had this problem on this or any other vehicle?
Just got my 2007 CRV EX 2WD a couple of weeks ago. I love it, my wife loves it, the kids love it. Road noise is very quiet. Power is very adequate unless you just have to go 90 every where you go fully loaded. Rear storage is very good. Seating is comfortable, interior fit and finish is excellent. Transmission is a 5 speed auto and is the smoothest shifting auto I have driven in 30+ years of driving. Sound system is fantastic. Would highly recommend.
Question about the 2007 CRV. In your opinion is this a good car for a shorter driver? I'm 5'3" and after 9 years of driving Ford Explorers and stepping over running boards getting in/out I think I have a permanent kink on my right side...I parked next to a CRV the other day and it looks much shorter than my truck. What do you think? A good choice for shorter people? On a review on msn.autos the professional said it "took effort" stepping into it...I can't see how that could be. Thanks.
Just bought 2007 CRV LX AWD and love it! Had a Subaru and my first SUV. I love the exterior style, get comments everywhere i drive. Reminds me of a large beetle with volvo lights. Didn't want a sunroof cause my last car leaked. At night the red lights up the back car. Lots of visibility, interior comfortable. Gas so far averages 18.3 but i stop and start all the time. The emergency brake is by foot and beeps if you forget to release. The dash is lighted by a cool blue light. The interior light comes on after motor shut off so you can gather your items before leaving the car. Only con is the mirrors on the visors should of come with lights. And the headlights don't shut off with motor, but it does beep. Will have to get front splash guards because none of them come with it. Snowed everyday since i bought it and had no problem going up steep hills. The radio sounds sweet. 8 cup holders and cell phone charger and mp3 player. OVERALL A++++
Test drove a black/black EX CRV. Very sharp. I found it very peppy but I'm currently driving a 13 year old Subaru Legacy with 135 hp. It's all in the perspective... To the vertically challenged - I'm 5'2" and found it very comfortable to get in/out. Planning on getting a green tea EX-L w/Nav this spring, after I "play" with several local dealerships this spring. I know there's not much wiggle room with Honda but where's the fun if you don't leave a saleman or two crying in your wake?
To contrast with a previous comment, my 6'4" husband lit up when he saw how well he fit in the 2007 CR-V. Something that I don't see mentioned a whole lot, but that made a big difference in comfort for both of us (I'm 5'6") is that the steering column telescopes, so tall folks can stretch out and shorter folks can still reach the wheel comfortably. It's really rare that we find a car we both fit in, but the telescoping wheel and the headroom did it for the CR-V. As a comparison: his shins touched the new RAV4's dash/glovebox all the way down; talk about MAJOR injury potential in a crash! We ordered the 4WD EX-L w/ Navi in Green Tea Metallic in December from a Central Virginia dealer, and it's not here yet, so leave plenty of lead time if you plan on being picky with your options like us. Can't wait to get it!!
I tried out the 2007 CR-V and 2007 RAV4.. I am going to buy the RAV4 for two reasons.. 1) V6 engine, amazing power compared to the CR-V.. 2) Higher towing capacity for the same price... by the time I put all the luxuries on each car, its better off to get the SUV that can tow more...
2 miles off per mile per gallon is worth the money.. plus I get a discount for being a recent college grad...
Honda, you have some nice CR-Vs, but I will spend my money some place else. Your not even a american car company and don't even offer your new SUV in a manual transmission. How sad is that? Has america beome so lazy? You have so much more control over your car on a manual. Sad, just sad. All the crap you can put in there, but no manual transmission. To bad....very disapointed.
hehehehe. Those marketing boys are smart. Make the popular CR-V ugly, raise the loaded price...then redesign the Pilot to look more like a bigger CR-V and start the price at $27,000. hmmmmmm...
I doubt you'll see any salesmen crying when you leave the lot without buying one of these. I bought a 2wd ex-l yesterday and of the 4 the dealer had on the lot, 3 were sold before noon. They are not offering discounts on these models unless you go through Costco.
Wonder when the 2007 crv will be available in the Philippines
When and if will an automatic diesel version of the CRV be available ?
Sure the dealers are offering discounts, you just have to find the right dealer. It also helps to arm yourself with price guides. I went with the Consumer Reports one. I have two competing dealers equidistant from me. First one, even though I told him I knew what the givebacks were and the dealers' cost for the car still quoted me MSRP like I was born 2 minutes before falling off a turnip truck in front of his dealership. Second dealer quoted me 2 grand off the MSRP. Didn't even have to haggle. He's still making a fair profit and I'm getting a fair price. I thought I might do OK with the second dealer when the first dealer made a strangled noise when I told him I was also getting a price from his competitor. But I thought I'd have to work harder. BTW - it's an EX-L with nav. Do your homework and work the dealers if you've got multiple ones in your area and you might be pleasantly surprised.
I can answer the question about road noise. I owned a 2004 CR-V and disliked the road noise and the uncomfortable passenger seat (for sleeping). Both of those areas have been greatly improved. I now own a 2007 and the road noise has been cut down considerably - it's the first thing I noticed - it's quiet! The passenger seat is much more comfortable for sleeping also. Overall, I'm very happy with 2007 CR-V
Does the CRV offer heated seats for up front leather seats?
Is anyone aware of an after-market kit or modification to the 07 CR-V hatch that would allow it to be completely opened remotely? This is for an elderly owner who has trouble lifting the hatch. Currently, the hatch can be "popped" with key fob, but the safety latch must still be manually defeated to fully lift the hatch. At the time of sale, dealer said mod could be done but now (post sale) is balking.
i like it . It reminds me of the volvo suv only cheaper which is great.
I actually always loved the boxy, "sporty", look of the older CR-V's. So when I started shopping for a CR-V, I said "no way I'm getting that ugly new 2007 design". But the more I sat INSIDE the older ones, the more I disliked them... very uncomfortable, IMO. Then I sat in the 2007 and there's just no comparison. I'm now sold on the 2007...and its looks have grown on me. Test Drove the RAV4, too, and I just didn't like the interior as much... felt like cheap materials to me. I know it offers a V6, but then it becomes much more expensive. My 4 year old won't know the difference, anyway.
What gas mileage are you getting on your CRVs and what year do you have? -- I am interested in both city and highway. I read only one owner who mentioned getting just 18 mpg in the city. That is lower than reports predict.
I really hate that Honda did away with a manual transmission for the CR-V. I think its a big mistake on their part. Maybe the automatic wouldn't be so bad if it had the manual shift feature, like the hyundais and kias do. I really have to consider where i want to go with my next vehicle, if i can't have a manual transmission option with this one. I also think the new CR-V is kind of ugly with that big bubous front end on it (makes it looks like its been punched in the nose). I also don't like the rear quarter panel windows. They just don't fit the design.
Currently we have done 2300 miles in our new CR-V 2007 and we are getting 17 around town and 18.5 on the highway (at best, doing 65-75 for 200 miles) - which we are very disappointed by. We are taking it in next week for the electonic diagnostic tests although the dealer has said that given it is still in its break in period that the gas mileage might not be great. Any thoughts on this (i hadn't expected anything this bad)
Am averaging 23.1 for the last 2600 miles (85% crawling around town)
I would think you have to at least break 10k into ur new car to get any improvement on gas milage.
I for one hated crv's because *my opinion* I wasn't fond of the exterior and interior design. I walked into the honda dealership today and hoping to get a 2007 civic coupe, and when i saw the 2007 crv I admired it. Now I'm contemplating whether to get a civic or coupe..
ang tagal ng pila 2months na wala pa!
Been really happy with the 2007 CRV, but I miss having a compass. Tried one from the auto parts store but can't find a place within driver's view where it isn't affected by electronic fields or whatever goofs compasses up. Anyone have any luck installing a compass? If so, where and what brand? Any other suggestions.
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW FROM ANY NEW OWNERS OF THE 2007 CRV IF YOU HAVE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE WHEEL BEING VERY STIFF AND WITH THE CAR DRIFTING TOWARDS THE RIGHT/ LEFT ALL THE TIME?
IF SOME ONE FROM HONDA READS THIS CAN YOU PEASE TELL ME IF THIS CAR SHOULD BE DOING THIS.
BECAUSE OTHER THAN THIS "TINY" PROBLEM, I REALLY THINK THE CRV IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR, BETTER THAN THE OLDER MODELS. I LIKE IT....
yes, i have had ny car for 2 weeks and complain about the same thing. did honda do anything about it?
Does anyone have an opinion on the Hyundai Tucson vs. the RAV4 and the CRV? I need a manual transmission and neither Toyota or Honda are providing that in the RAV4 or CRV.
Bought my CRV-EX in April 2007. Currently have 12,000 mi on it. Am getting 25-26 mi around town and on my last trip got 30 mi. Find I do better not using cruise control. Previouly owned a 2001 New Passat wagon. CRV easier to enter and exit (I'm 5'3") and gets basically the same mileage as the 4 cyl 1.8 in the Passat and I don't have to use premium fuel or synthetic oil (can also go 8-9,000 mi between oil changes). CRV also has more interior room and rides equally as well.
Yep, it's just plain ugly! Sure glad I got one before 07. On many levels this design is horrible.

Drove both the RAV4 and CRV. Fit , finish and design in the CRV in person are far greater than the RAV4. I'll be getting mine soon with the Navigation straight from the US. My friend is in the custom and he could smuggle one for me. It just looks elegant like a luxury car with it. Too bad they dont have it( Navigation) in a third world country like the Philippines
Have now done 5000 miles and change after having the car since January last year - still getting 17.5 around town and 18.5 on the highway - have had the cars looked at but there is still no explanation from the dealership as to why the mileage is so bad. Admitedly its not much mileage yet but we are still very disappointed by the fuel economy.
Simon,
I hope you realize that fuel economy would be greatly affected by driving habits.
Like I've pointed out before, my Civic gets 33.5mpg in 100% city driving, while there is another one person that drives the very same car in the same 100% city condition in the State of Washington; but his/her number is 21.2mpg.

So, please think about the driving habits too when trying to complain because it is not always the vehicle's fault.
One piece of advice in achieving high mileage: Think inertia.
I purchased a 2007 CR-V EX-L w/Nav about 7 months ago. Overall I LOVE the vehicle. There is one irritation I'd like to point out and see if anyone else has experienced a similar issue. When I make a sharp, full steering wheel turn, the front wheels feel and sound like the wheels are jumping/hopping; as if the steering wheel is turning too sharply and the tires are actually jumping across the pavement as opposed to rolling on the pavement. This used to happen on my ten year old Dodge pickup when I would engage the four wheel drive. Prior to my CR-V, I had an Element EX. I believe the smart 4WD system in the CR-V is the same. I never encountered this with my Element. Also, I don't think the 4WD system is anywhere near a good as the Element was. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Thanks for all and any replies. Rick
My foot smells really bad.
what happend a stick , only lazy drive auto please bring back / crv , manual, only drive honda since 1982
I love my crv I have a 2007ex 2wd the only problem I have is the gas milege isnt as good as I thought I averege 21mpg, but when im spending the day on the interstate going to portland I averge 30/31 with the cruze set at 80mph. I do regreat not getting the awd when im driving the snowy passes
Rick,
I was wondering if you found out what was happening with you CRV when you turn a corner and it sounds like the wheels are skipping? I ask because my 2007 CRV is doing the same thing and I am wondering if it is something to be worried about? Thanks for any and all responses. Dale
