2007 Honda CR-V Revealed

Crv111_1

Honda’s stepping it up a notch with the all-new 2007 CR-V compact SUV. The numbers may read like this vehicle is underpowered, with only 166 horses under the hood, but the smooth, standard five-speed automatic delivers steady performance. Fuel economy is up slightly to 22/30 mpg cty/highway for the 2WD models and 22/28 mpg for AWD. There are three trim levels: The base LX comes with all the basics; the EX gets a moonroof, 17-inch wheels, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, and an upgraded sound system; and the EX-L gets all that as well as leather seats, heated front seats, satellite radio and an optional navigation system.

Inside, the CR-V is a perfect example of practicality and high-quality fit and finish. Outside, the design could polarize, but at least it’s a bold move — not something you usually see from Honda.

Of course, there are numerous safety features, including side curtain airbags, driver and front-passenger side airbags, active front head restraints, stability control, antilock brakes and a tire pressure monitoring system, all standard.

Prices are expected to be in the $22,000 - $26,000 range. The CR-V goes on sale Sept. 28, so we should have exact pricing for you soon.

the cargo space is more bigger the the honda crv 2005?

Mike,
Sightly bigger inside even though the overall length of the CRV is the exact same (when you compensate for the missing spare tire on the tailgate).
2007: 35.7 cubic feet with seats up, 72.9 with them fully folded
2006: 33.5 cubic feet with seats up, 72.0 with them fully folded

That double grill makes it look UGLY!!!

I will be curious to see things like fuel economy numbers, where people are paying a lot of attention to that stuff now.

I am very glad to see they did not take take the gage cluster from the new Civic. Dials work great, are easy to read and in this case look nice and clean.

The stying reminds me a lot of a small Pacifica which I always thought of as just an average looking SUV. I think the RAV4's restyle was a nice upgrade to a vehicle that needs some style. I am still not sure what to think of this but excited is not one of the words. Bottom line is that is has the non-italic H on the front and people will buy it for that reason alone over some of the other choices.

I agree on the grill. Would have helped if it was not half one style, half another style. They couldn't decide on what style grill looked better so they just did both. ;-)

I don't get the grille either. Sorry about the mpg. it is added above. Late night of blogging!

Am very curious to know the length in inches of the cargo space when seats are folded up all the way. From the back edge of the completely folded up seat to the rear door (as in the view from the last picture you show). Also inches from side to side.

Bummer no manual transmission.

How's over-shoulder visibility in the new CR-V? It looks like the large D-pillar might limit blind spot views somewhat.

MH
I didn't notice any blindspot issue in the rear. Definitely not like the CX7. I'm guessing that's because the CRV is shorter.

I can't get over how ugly the back windows are. They don't match in any way, shape or form the lines of the body and roof line. What were they thinking? I am also not pleased that the fuel efficiency wasn't increased very much and wonder if they'll release a hybrid of this. I certainly hope that Honda gets a lot of negative press and feedback about the design because it just lacks cohesiveness and style. Very disappointed with Honda.

Too expensive for the power ratings. 26k for a loaded model is too much for a CR-V. You can buy more car elsewhere.

Personally I think the new CR-V looks brilliant. I like the more chunky exterior and am glad to see they did not radically change the interior space which is perhaps the best selling point of the current model. Well done Honda!

That double grill makes it look ugly. What is going on at HONDA?

Absolutely hideous - the whole thing. Hideous.

I have owned 6 CRV's ... and the 2007 will DEFINITELY be the 7th! They are nothing short of spectacular vehicles and the new one is absolutely beautiful! GREAT JOB, HONDA!

is there the picnic table still?

no picnic table. you get a "Shelf" in the cargo area though.

The front side of this new CRV reminds me of a Lexus RX400h with an ugly front bumper. The second grill is also too big. The back side reminds me of a mini Mercedes R Class and the tailgate reminds me of an Acura MDX/RDX (this is understandable). All great vehicles, just when don’t take their design elements and lump it together and call it a new vehicle. Overall, the design of the new CRV looks more mature, wouldn’t you agree? The interior also looks very nice, I just wonder how long it will take before that “Shelf” start to rattle; solid loose pieces like that usually do after a while.

hard to tell from the pictures but does the new 07 still have a tape cassette player??? or an option for a tape cassette player...

How do these compare with the pilot? I know the pilot is bigger, but is worth the extra money over the new CRV?

hi, is the parking brake foot or hand operated?, liked the 06 shape better but i think the new one will grow on me.
will the used price on the 06 diesel come down now the new model is here?

Is the new CRV for 2007 wider? It's the same length when you factor in the outside wheel, but is it wider?

Looks kinda like the sporty version of the Ford Focus! Yuck!

I like the 2007's lift back vrs the earlier, it will keep rain out while loading/unloading.

Would like to know the min ground clearance.

Can the rear passenger seat assy be removed? If so, then is the cargo floor all on the same plane? (Would like to sleep in it at a trail head, and am 6'2")

Does the basic LX model come with the more avail 16" wheels & tires?

Great looking vehicle. Can't wait to get my hands on it. But where has the spare wheel gone?

it has a footbrake.

New Width is 71.6 inches
2006 width was 70.2 inches

Our full review should be up later today.

could somebody tell me if the rear windows go all the way down flush into the door? it seams like all suvs today are made with rear windows that don't go down all the way...............

Can you open the mirror on the rear door as in 2006 model ?

Terrible, i just bought my CRV. I was told there wont be any new model coming out.i saw similar look at the New york show but was told it's meant for USA. This new model is a real beauty

Does anyone know of it's towing capabiliites?

I would like to purchase 2007 crv ex for export european standard, what is the avalability

nice looking vehicle except of the knobby (for her plesure)bumper . I mean why on earth would they take a nice smooth lined and well rounded form and throw that in

I tried the 2007 RAV 4. The seats were very comfortable and more like upright chair seats. Are the seats in the 2007 CRV any higher, more adjustable or less sports car like than in the 2006 CRV ?
Also the hand brake in the 2006 pushed against the drivers hip. Is that less likely to be problem in the slightly wider car?

Two questions about the 2007 CR-V:

1. Do the windshield wipers have more than 3 speeds?

2. Is the gas tank any bigger than the previous model's?

Otherwise, she looks sweet.

double grill in the front is terrible. this can't be designed by honda. looks like a third party work ...

I own two Cr-Vs: a 2003 and a 2004. I think that the design from 2002-2006 is perfect. The controls are easy to reach, the radio is simple to use, it is comfortable, with plenty of head and leg room. The cargo area is fantastic. I love the picnic tables. My wife sells products at craft fairs and the picnic tables work great for her displays.

I am so thoroughly disappointed with Honda's redesign for 2007. They did away with fantastic features. I dislike the one opening hatch. It was so convenient to have two ways to enter the back. The picnic table is gone and the storage well is useless since it now houses the tire.

I definitely got my money's worth with the 2003 and 2004 models. I will hold on to them for a good long time. I hope Honda rethinks this design for future models.

When will this be available in manila? How much? Will Honda make any diesel variants?

How many ways can I say UGLY! What a turn off and what a disappointment. Guess I'm gonna have to buy a Ford Escape.

Looks like the BMW X3--total design copy with minor changes. The X3 is ungainly looking at best, the CRV at least smooths out the lines in a pleasant fashion.

You will hate the escape. A ford product is no comparison to a honda. Junk, simple as that. I like the new CRV but I am glad I have an 05.

Nobody is mentioning my biggest complaint with the 04 CR-V.
ROAD NOISE. What has Honda done to cut down on the road noise?

CR-V looks okay to me, not really that bad. However, you guys should check the Chevrolet Equinox/Pontiac Torrent. These SUVs look great, got standard V-6s plus excellent safety ratings. Their side-impact is 5 stars, and that is WITHOUT side airbags! The CR-V needs the air bags to get decent side crash tests.

I'm devastated that the new Honda CRV doesn't include a picnic table. All this time, I was waiting for Honda to roll out the CRV portable picnic chairs, and now they take away the table. Tailgaters unite -- this is a travesty!

Strongly dislike the 2 front grills.

Dislike the sloping side rear window design (and their resulting blind spots.)

But most of all, cannot buy one because there is no MANUAL transmission! What is Honda thinking?

Looked at the Chevy Equinox (good styling) but hate the Department of Homeland Security Monitoring System (ie, OnStar.)

Currently have a Subaru Forester, and I have sworn 137 times to never own another Subaru again...

Looks like I'll have fight the Toyota options black box & try to properly equip a Rav4...

I don't know how people are comparing this new CRV to the Lexus and Mercedes as if that was a bad thing. I like the look. When I see the old CRVs and Rav 4s with the tire on the back to me it now looks old and definitely a design that's going to be phased out by both Toyota as well. I test drove the CRV and it's not the most exciting car in the world to drive, I'll say that. It doesn't inspire with its power. But, overall, for the money, I'll take it.

It's a toss-up between the Rav4 or the CRV for my next vehicle. The deciding factor for me is the V6 power and I will buy the V6 Rav4 because if it. The CRV needs V6 power as an option.

I LOVE the new 2007 CR-V. Its so much more stylish than the rectangular boxes of the past. Okay, so the bumper is UGLY and the grill is wierd, but its a nice looking car. Why get a V-6 and spend more on gas if your not towing? Why put in a manual trans for the 3% of CR-V buyers. That's just picky. Also great - no gear shift to accidentally hit when you want to turn on the radio. It has a classy interior with the exception of the pully for getting the rear seats folded. And hello... its honda. No American car will ever maintain its equity the way Honda's do!!! Don't be swayed... I say go for a test drive like I did. You won't regret it!!

I love the way this car looks. It has way too many gadgets implemented in their ex-l model for someone to say no to this car. I preferably like the silver color one. I went over to the dealer to check out the car and it's amazing. The navigation model is very appealing to me for i'm not that street savy. The mp3 connection is another plus, the dashboard and the moonroof and many other gadgets i think you guys should go and check out for yourselves. I haven't had the chance to drive it yet but i will keep you guys posted. The grill is just something new, we are just not use to seeing a grill like that in this type of cars, but i'm sure the proper cooling for the engine requires it and it just doesn't bother me. I've taken a look at honda accords also the hybrid models, the Acura tsx and tl model, the Toyota prius, honda fit and other models. I'm doing an extensive search for the proper car for me and the Honda crv looks like it is now the first one on the list and followed by the Acura tsx.

A lot more questions than answers. Does anyone monitor this site to provide good data?
I have a 2004 CRV and the road noise drives me nuts on a long trip. I have to wear noise cancelling earphones to prevent damage to my hearing. I've about to install Dyno-mat or some such to try and get rid of it.
O/w, the car is great - I plan to put about 200k miles on it.

This is a very cool looking car. However, it's a litle pricey for what you get. If I was in the market for another SUV I'd most likely go for the RAV 4 or the Nissan Trail-x ( you can't get this one in the USA ). However all that being said, does the market need any more SUV's, of any size.

I don't like the new tailgate. You can't open the window any more for loading. You can't shut the new gate "handsfree" (with your hip) like you could the old one. It's a head bonker and you lose a lot of storage space with the spare tire in the back. If you get a flat, you have to unpack the whole car to get at the spare. The "shelf" is rated for 20 pounds, which is a total joke. The rear gate was much more practical than this new "improvement." Honda should offer the swinging gate as an option.
