2007 Lexus LS 460 and LS 460 L Hitting Streets in October
Today Lexus unveiled the full specs for its new flagship sedans, the LS 460 and LS 460 L. The LS 460 L is Lexus’ first long-wheelbase model, and is basically a stretched version of the regular LS. In typical Lexus style, the LS is more powerful, hits 60 mph faster — in an estimated 5.4 seconds — and gets better mileage than the BMW 750i while also matching most of the performance numbers of the all-new Mercedes-Benz S550.
The LS 460 features a 380-hp V-8 with an eight-speed — yes, you read that right — automatic transmission. Even with all that power the LS manages a respectable 19 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.
We’re still waiting on detailed pricing from Lexus, but expect a marked increase over the current LS 430’s $57,220 base price.
We'd guess a starting point in the mid-$60s, but that would still be much less than the BMW 750i’s $71,800 base figure and far below the Mercedes-Benz S550’s $86,175.
And for once we get a large Lexus sedan with some exterior style. While it may be generic compared to the chunky BMW or the mod Mercedes, it is far beyond full-size Lexus models of the past. The LS460 will be in dealerships starting in October.

that looks alot like a copy of the mercedes...and i don't like the interior design, it looks alittle cheap, maybe its the silver accents that kill it.

Looks too much like a Ford 500.
Put you to sleep style
No imagination in the design of this car

Looks pretty sweet, both on the outside and inside! Now when can I win the lottery and get one?

Lexus seems to have finally caught up with the more expensive German sedans, styling, performance, and of course, you gessed it, PRICE$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Lexus designers should consider a little more bling and pizzazz. Beefier arches and wider tires and wheel wells will give it a more stellar and expensive look. The brand needs a little personailty. I am a true Lexus fan but the newer designs leave me scratching my head!

I have owned 2 Lexus LS 400 and one GS 300. The new Lexus LS 460 reminds me of the Toyota Camry from the front and at first I thought I had misspelled the name Lexus. They are all starting to look alike but the price isn't. Thanks

Lexus has done a good job. They've tied the family together with common design features w/o alienating their conservative market. There's no way sboy can tell anything about the interior from these photos. Which M-B is sboyNAcamaro refering to? Does he mean it has 4 wheels and the driver uses a wheel-like object to steer the car? sboy is a jackass. He's got a problem with Japanese vehicles and maybe any that aren't "American". Like I said before, he should go back to his trailer in the park and work on his Camaro or Mustang or Duster.

I did a test-drive on the LS460. The handling was almost as good as the BMW 750i. I was impressed with the features. I think this car is suitable to those who are practical. I mean, the price is a little high, but it's considerably low if you compare it to the 7 series and S-class..plus it has other feautures that most other cars don't have yet in the U.S. I especially liked the "hold" feature so you can get your foot off of the break when there's a long traffic.
The wood trims are made by Yamaha, and the crystal on the headlights are made by Waterford Crystals. The exterior colors are nice...especially the white and red. The navigation screen is also a touch-screen. It's like a mini-comp with the icons. It can also re-route when it senses traffic. Overall, it's a well-made car, but it's still a toy compared to BMW and Mercedes Benz. But again, if you go for practicality, then go for this car. You get all the luxury, comfort, awesome features, room, and more for a price that's right.
By the way, don't make poor judgements on this car if you're only driving a hyundai or a kia, or any other junk. It's very ignorant. Japanese cars have been known to be well-made cars (like Honda or Toyota).
BMW and Mercedes Benz are made for people who want excitement or thrill in driving. Also, for people who have $.

A toy huh BMWandMercedesFan? I beg to differ. The Lexus is a superior to 7's and S classes on mostly all fronts. The quality, refinement, and reliability far exceeds either of the German brands. The 7 and S class are nice cars, but will never catch the LS in sales, never. BMW and Merecedes are for people with money? Yeah you need to have money for all the time you waste in the dealership waiting room when the Germans are in for service.

My comment is simple I test drove the BMW 7 series and the S-Class Mercedes but purchased the LS460. I have owned all three makes in the past BMW, Mercedes and Lexus (current vehicle) and put my money down on the LS because I do not like having a mouse in the car to control the electrics so the touch screen did it for me plus Lexus reliability and proven (to my wallet) lower maintenance and running costs.

I am a ture Toyota, Lexus fan to sboyNAcamaro and tommy blackston u got some neves to call the all-new Lexus LS 460 a put u to sleep styleing and has a cheap interior. You can't compare it to the ugly ass Ford 500 which isn't selling. From what I see is to haters that can't stand to see a real car that looks ten times better then the S-class and the 750i.

Plus its a lot cheaper then the other two put together

Yea... nobody should try to trash the Lexus for its interior, its world class and is worthy competition for cars that cost tens of thousands more, and that's saying something.

I always owned a Mercedes Car. I have the S class 320 and I had the S class 500L. I will switch to Lexus LS460L. The Exterior of the new S class may look nicer than the LS460. That is all for the Mercedes S class. Mercedes is not a durable car any more. It went really commercial. You need to replace plenty of the parts that get ruined much quicker than any other normal car. Mercedes is using a lot of plastic parts.

Now that I have bought the Lexus LS460L, I assure you that this car is different world of automotive. It is surely not only one step but many steps ahead of competition. The honesty of the Lexus maker, will keep this car always in the front. I had the chance to look under the car (the chasis, suspenssion system, shafts and etc.) The material used for these hidden parts are made of the best possible quality. This alone shows me how determined is the manufacturer to present a car that is different than all the other commercially driven manufacturers.
